Why Fiat Diem?
The Blog's Origin Story...
I chose the name "Fiat Diem" for my blog after a profound experience at World Youth Day in Lisbon 2023 and while reading "The Imitation of Mary."
The theme of that year's World Youth Day came from Luke 1:38-9, focusing on Mary's "fiat"—her unconditional "yes" to God's will.
This concept deeply resonated with me and inspired the blog's name.
"Fiat" in Latin means "let it be done" and is often associated with Mary's response to the angel Gabriel when she was chosen to be the mother of Jesus.
"Diem" means "day" in Latin.
Together, "Fiat Diem" can be interpreted as "Let the day be done" or more broadly, "Let God's will be done each day".
This name encapsulates the blog's purpose: to explore and embrace a daily commitment to faith, much like Mary's unwavering devotion.
It serves as a reminder to approach each day with openness to God's plan, to say "yes" to the challenges and opportunities that come our way, and to live out our faith actively and purposefully.
Through "Fiat Diem", I aim to share reflections, insights, and experiences that encourage readers to live out their own daily "fiat", fostering a community of individuals striving to align their lives with God's will, one day at a time.
Godbless,
Mel
